Using Exempt Expenses, Zero Rated Expenses and No VAT Rates in Xero

I am not an expert on VAT and the following information is based on my understanding and experience in 5 years of bookkeeping. The aim of this blog is to try to explain which Tax Rate to use in Xero where there is 0% VAT, in a simple way. But VAT is a complex issue and if you are in any doubt at all you should contact the HMRC.

VAT Codes (Tax Rates) in Xero

I was recently chatting to Nicola about the information shown on a VAT Audit report and realised that this is something we haven’t covered on intelligentVA before. Nicola kindly agreed to write a couple of informative posts for us on which codes to use and when. In next weeks blog post we will look at using Exempt Expenses, Zero Rated Expenses and No VAT Rates in Xero.
